  • First of all let me say that I am NOT a golfer, have never played golf (ok, once, but nobody would really call what I did "golfing") and this book will not inspire me to play golf. But I really did ENJOY THIS BOOK...it could almost be subtitled "Play better everything" because altho it very specifically focuses on the game of golf, the principles and foundation certainly transcend golf. Full disclosure here I am a yogi, and Ms. Bacall's clear and simple relationship of yoga to golf could apply to anything & everything. This book is very smartly done and makes it easy to apply those yoga practices to one's golfing...reminiscent of that wonderful book of so many years ago "The Inner Game of Tennis" (and I AM a tennis player). So, if you're a golfer, I highly recommend this book ... if you're any kind of athlete, and want to enjoy/improve the game you like, read this book.
  • I don't think I can devote my life to yoga. My wife says that I lack initiative and wonders what I'm going to do about it. I said she should listen to herself.

    That being said there's a lot of exercises in here that I've been working on that do exactly what they say about flexibility and strength.

  • Thought there would be golf specific exercises, but there weren't any. I would rate it high as a yoga book, but only average when trying to relate it to golf.

  • As someone who has always been hard on himself, I found golf the perfect vehicle for self-abuse. Patricia Bacall's wonderful book on how to incorporate yoga into my golf game and life has changed all that. My spirits are higher and my golf score is lower--at least by a few strokes. I'm actually starting to enjoy the game now instead of spending half the day hating myself for my mistakes.

    Even at my job I find myself taking time out to breathe, focus, and stay positive. On the links I've stopped wearing myself out trying to "muscle" the ball--all thanks to the few minutes a day I spend practicing the yoga I learned from the book. Techniques I thought would be hard turned out to be easy. I already feel stronger and more flexible and it's only been a few weeks.

    At first I didn't want to try it. Yoga is for Californians and weirdoes, right? I wouldn't want to be confused with a liberal. But that's not what I found. Yoga, at least the way the book explains it, is making my golf game and my life easier and more fun. And the instructions are so user-friendly and easy to follow that I feel like I have my own personal instructor who doesn't mind that I'm a little overweight and uncoordinated.

    Speaking of which, I actually got a compliment the other day on how fluid my swing is looking. Wow. And all I've done differently is practice the poses and breathing techniques in the book for a short while every day. My wife says now when I come home from a round of golf I'm almost pleasant to be around. Who knew?
